Yes. I had the front sight hood sent to my son's NSW address and then he sent it to NZ.

    I wasn't in a hurry...

    My BRNO No 2 story.

After a lot of searching over a couple of years my No 1 eventually came sadly from a friend's estate.
I'm sure he would have been happy though for me to have it.

Mine's condition overall was very good, better than anything Tardme peddlers were trying to sell for a grand and up. That bubble seems to have burst now.

    Two problems with mine -

1/ The butt plate has shrunk and lifted slightly between the two screws. This is a common issue. Replacements for these are very rare worldwide. There was a Yank making very good replacements but he doesn't reply to emails. Model 2s etc no problem. I'm still looking.

2/ The other problem was the 2 stage trigger. If the first stage was taken up and the shot not taken the trigger would not return to the starting point. This can sometimes be caused by attempts to lighten the trigger spring too much. In my case I could see a very very small depression on the sear surface. I carefully polished it out but the trigger still wasn't 100%.

I then found a guy called jojo_svk selling BRNO parts on Ebay. (He was also active on Rimfirecental at the time.) He is in Slovakia. I thought yeah right. Then desperation set in I thought let's try him. Well, he had an unbelievable range of spares virtually all new. IIRC the only used parts were bolt bodies.
Although I didn't need most of them but because they were available, I ordered a firing pin, a mainspring, a cocking piece, a trigger, bottom metal and 2 butt plate screws and of course a fore-sight protector.

The order arrived pretty quickly (why does it sometimes take forever for stuff from USA) and the shipping cost was very reasonable.
The 2 screws however were missing (something like 2-3 dollars US) from the order. I was going to let it go as I'd only ordered the screws in case I had difficulty removing the old ones should I ever get a replacement butt plate. I reconsidered and politely informed jojo-svk. He replied overnight, was very apologetic, and said that he’d already sent off the screws, shipping at his cost. The package duly arrived and to my surprise he’d sent 2 sets of all the rifle’s screws not just those for the butt plate.

I asked him about replacement butt plates for the No 1. He said he couldn’t help but received many enquiries for them.

My trigger is now superb. Original problem solved.
I also now have spare parts should I pick up another No 1.

Overall a great experience with jojo-svk.

I had the same issue with a Model 1 and 1957 Model 2. What I think happened (in my particular case) was the butt wood had swelled rather than the butt plate shrinking. The butt plates appear to be made of some type of very hard plastic.

I have the same issue with the butt plate. My thinking was, if it ever got cracked or damaged I’d get a metal but plate made specifically for it by a good gunsmith.

It would certainly be worth doing IMO

You can all go sit in the naughty corner. Two pages in on a hunting forum and no one mentions the Ploughed paddock in the back ground!.

I know they are nice rifles but come on people those hogs are just taking the piss.

PS I did see the house as well.

I am not sure that Model 1 butt plates shrinking is correct - my understanding is that the butt plates were always small relative to the stock size. From a BRNO collector's perspective, having a Model 1 butt plate the same size as the stock is the first sign the stock has been sanded down/fiddled with. Regardless; if you have a Model 1 with a small butt plate, you should be happy with it!

Had the same issue recently. If you have friends / family in Oz get them to send it to them and forward it onto you here. That's what I did, no issues.

Might be a stupid question but I have a steel front sight cover for a CZ 527 .222 at home if it fits or is suitable.

After looking for a Brno model 2 that was in good nick, by chance i was able to get this 1952 model 1. Yet to take it out to the range but if it shoots well I am keen to replace the existing scope.

To the experts out there, can you recommend a suitable variable scope suitable with decent eye relief that will fit existing rings and not require removal of rear sights...if thats possible.

    Thanks in advance
