    Broken range finder

So I've got a leupold RX-IV range finder that someone here borrowed to measure the distances out from Centre of pivot base to mark out new fences.
They were told "you loose it or break it, you own it"
But they came to me this arvo and asked for another battery as this one was dead.
Turns out that it won't turn on with a new battery
Has anyone had a similar problem with theirs. Really wondering what to do with it. Doesn't help I'm going hunting this weekend!

    Fucking ropeable right now!

You said, "you loose it or break it, you own it". So tell the dude you want a new one by Friday at the latest.

Jesus H Christ. sort of tightwad would borrow a range finder and then have the cheek to go back and ask the owner for another battery??? That's like bludging a packet of smokes, and then going back for more when the packets empty...

I'm with @10-Ring , they just bought your broken range finder, get cash.

Just a quick question without any doubt towards you at all @puku did you test the range finder to make sure it was functioning before letting the person borrow it and I have no doubt that you would have. If the person does not pay up and confess to you what actually happened to it definitely name and shame.

Yes and the good one is 3.24 volts. Flat one is 2.82 volts, just before I got a very faint reading on the screen from the flat one.
So maybe this has the same cut out as the RX-3 (which is shouldn't according to Leupold). So if I can wear this battery down a bit it may be ok.

Sounds like my twin. Normally only see the stuff back when he has broken it and would like me to fix it. Of course it has been broken for two years but he wants to use it again in two days.

@hunter308 Yea i showed then how to use it and cleared it back to basic settings.
I see a common theme and I may not have been to clear earlier. It was one of the guys on the farm (read boss (father in law) and brother in law)

A lot of us on here would loath being in debt to a mate - I've also got a dropkick of a brother in law who borrows the shit out of everything I own.

Maybe there is a freelance electronics guy who can check the components for a busted capacitor or resistor. Those dudes are rare as hens teeth these days
