Browning ABolt 2 - emptying sand from stock?

Got an old A Bolt 308, still doing the job well enough but have wondered about emptying out what I presume is sand you can hear moving round in the plastic stock and replacing it with expanding foam to loose a bit of weight. Gun is pretty well suppressed and is fairly well balanced at the moment but on the last big carry out was mulling over all options to loose some weight. Anyone else done this or am I risking ending up in the 'what have you done Bubba' thread?

Can you hear it in the forend or the shoulder, I would have thought loose sand wouldn't contribute well to harmonics.

Sounds like just in rear of stock from grip back.

Why the need to replace the sand with expanding foam instead of just removing the sand?

Foam would deaden some of the hollow sound when tapped accidentally on a tree or something

I did one hollow synthetic stock with that expanding foam crap - cannot say it made any difference at all to how loud the stock was when it hit something. Was terrible before, and was still terrible after. Stuck a bit of old wetsuit on it, far better option and a lot more effective.
