    Browning A-Bolt

Anyone have any experience with the A-abolts? Not the newer budget A3 but the older better quality AI and AII. Couple I'm eyeing up on TM and wondered if anyone had experience. What were the pros/cons etc

    Excellent rifles mate.

Have one in .243 and she's well over 600 deer.

Excellent quiet and smooth action. (This is the medallion model mind,)

    Accurate , and lightweight.

I've had an A-Bolt in 270 for 22 years and it's still my go to for big game. Probably only shot 60 or so deer in that time but it's still as smooth as it ever was to use, pretty banged up externally though. I recently bought a second hand 22-250 A-Bolt as well, loving it.

Might seem a silly question but what is the main difference between the A & the X bolt?
    I’m going to ask anyway

I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.

I have an original ABolt in 308 in walnut stock. Build quality is good, bolt is slick, trigger is crisp, consistently less than 1 inch at 100m with either factory or hand loads.

I believe the original ABolt has a detachable box magazine contained within a hinged floor plate. The XBolt just has a detachable magazine.

    Sorry phone went mental.
The only bad comment is the stock is too short in the but if you are a bigger guy.

Would you go stainless over blued? Both synthetic.
