    BSA Hunter / Royal / Viscount etc Tenon Thread

    And here was me thinking google knew everything...

    Can anyone tell me the tenon thread designation for the old BSA actions?

    I have an action coming at some point, and some barrel blanks laying about, but I seem to recall the BSA's need a fatter shank to start with than most...

    @Coelacanth Just found out that the CF2 thread shorter. Found this on another forum.

    "The BSA CF2 the thread Dia is 1.118" of 12 TPI Whitworth form ( 55 Degrees)

    What the factory specs are I do not know butt hat's the measurement taken off the barrel I was working with. The CF2 has a shorter tenon than the Earlier Models as I found out when fittign the CF2 barrel to a Monarch action. Thread size and form remained the same."

    " The barrel tenons on the Maonrach and CF2 despite being the same diameter and thread were of different lengths so the tenon had to be lengthened and the counter bore for the bolt head deepened as well:-"

    Rebarrelling these needs very careful attention to the gap between the boltface and the barrel, a cousin of mine had his 222 Hunter rebarreled by a reputable gunsmith who didn't get it quite right - the result was a faceful of hot gas from a case-head separation, he was very lucky not to lose an eye

    He’s not sure as all models where slightly different. If you don’t have something to copy you will need to be good with your Verny
