    Building an AR

Hi all, and thanks in advance.

I am about to go down the line of getting my first AR. I have decided that I am going to build it in order to expand my knowledge of AR'S.

I have narrowed it down to either building one on Aero Precision parts or doing it with Spikes Tactical. Will buy locally.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these and I am interested in which is better. (Pros and cons)

My budget is $3k. And I want to do it within next 2 weeks.

    Thoughts??

Barrel and Trigger are key items. Spend money there and the rest is just cosmetics/ergonomics. For 3K you should be able to choose the best barrel/trigger available locally, and a nice rail/receiver set and still have plenty left over. You could also look at billet receiver sets that are much easier to assemble - no roll pins.
Budget a few dollars for basic tools too.

Thanks, yes I am in Wellington area. AR15 NZ I presume? Do you have all parts in stock? Was looking at Aero Precision but parts are a few weeks away. Are Spikes Tactical any good? Seems to get good reviews online.

Good to see you are following my fashion trend. Are you getting a carbon fiber foreend like the really cool blokes? If it was me I would start this journey by visiting digit...

+1 for dealing with digit - called in to see him and get hands on with a few of the options. Picked up my build the next day. Too easy.

You can also compare various parts such as receivers for fit. My recommendation is Seekins receivers. The fit is better than any other forged receivers we have had a play with. We have a few Daniel Defense barrels here too for a high quality build. Plenty of triggers to choose from too and test in our trigger jigs.
    Sounds like Heaven!
