    Post Burris Forever Warranty Claim

So I have inherited a Burris XTR 3-12X50. The scope is in as new condition, except the crosshairs are 'fuzzy' and almost look as though they are overlapping (Hard to describe and cant get an image, sorry). Nonetheless, the scope has clearly not stood the test of time internally.

I am wondering if anyone here has had success claiming their forever warranty and can let me know what the process is like?

Can I just pop into a local gun store and begin the claim, or do I need to email Baretta directly? I have all the original packaging, just no receipt.

    Cheers

Have you tried adjusting the reticle focus, what you are describing could be attributed to this . . . .

Yup have played around with all that. Not a focus issue. There is the solid, main crosshair, and this is completely outlined by a fuzzy exterior, it almost looks as if the crosshairs have 'bled out'.

now way back when and i dont know if it is still done or has been phased out.
burris duplex reticles were hammered flat rather than the wire being stretched. (ok not a great description)
so in order to keep the reticle as strong as possible the reticle has the same amount of "wire" in the thinner part of the reticle as the outer wire its just flatted out and stretched further towards the lenses. i have seen them get damp and they get "hairy looking"
its because the edges of the reticle are oxidising

Hairy is a good description, that would match up with what this reticle looks like..

how old is the scope, if its >20 years old then its a bit tough calling it a manufacture defect.
however i got an exchange scope from burris 2 years back no problem for a scope with an electrical fault on the illuminator and it was well over 10 years old.

Yeah that's fair, scope would be from about 2010, so getting on. What was the process like for your scope?

Thanks, that's good to know. Think I will pop into my local HNF and see how things go from there

I had an an early 80's burris that the reticle canted. Took it into the local HnF not expecting much. They sent it back to Beretta NZ, who replaced it with a similar current model. Can't ask for much better than that.
