Thread: Bushnell Elite 6500 vs Sightron SIII vs Trijicon

Doing some Research on a "budget" long range rig to purchase in a few months. Importing the scope from the states, I can get a Bushnell https://theopticzone.com/products-pa...mil-dot-matte/ for $1050 plus freight. How would this compare to something like the Sightron https://theopticzone.com/products-pa...mil-dot-matte/ @ similar money, or the trijicon https://theopticzone.com/products-pa...een-dot-matte/ which would be about $300 more. The sightron appeals as it has a higher magnification. I struggle now with a 14 x mag, and am not sure 20x would be enough for me to see a gong/target @ 1000m for instance.

Otherwise keeping to the $1500 budget for optics (i'd like to include rings/base for this, but its not mandatory) what other options. I know I could probablt get a second hand mk4 for that coin, but i'd prefer new, as I have been burned in the past. I'm pretty set on the Bushnell elite 6500 4.5-30x56 with target turrets. Unless there is something better for similar money. At this stage the rifle will be a Remington 700 LR (Centerfire Rifle - Model 700 SPS Long Range - Remington Centerfire Rifles) in 7mm mag ($1150 from reloaders, leaving me a couple of hundred for bedding and and a trigger job, coming under my $3k budget). The ultimate goal for this rifle would be to shoot steel and paper, and use it if I get a trip to the south Island for game at range 300-700+ meters.

Cant speek for the sightron or the trijicon but from what i have seen of the bushnell would be good bet

The remington is good value for money when there bog standard sps is 1199 in stainless

Its a SPS LR version, so only difference is heavy contour barrel, and a extra sling swivel, still awesome value..... The bushnell I have had a physical play with, (not on a rifle) and I liked it. i need to actually get a shoot on one ideally before I buy, but we will see.

I had one of those 6500s... Apart from the gay super sticky up turrets on the tacticool I highlu rate them.... I would get low profile turrets if I got one again...... Glass was fantastic and tracking very reliable.... Paralax adj were great and eye releif was very acceptable on high (30x) power... I sold the scope to ritchie007 only as it was a MOA adj scope and im a MIL fiend.....

Ive replaced it with a premier reticles 3~15x50 very very narce scope... Thanks Claw for convincing me

The Trijicon I have seen in a long range type format (colicky turrets and side focus) had a terrible reticle. Huge crosshairs like a German #4 but bigger.

I think you can get a mildot version, but it doesnt have enough mag for me. baldbob's review was good enough, going to do some research into other options for now.

Trijicon and sightron have mint glass but trijicon lacks travel on the ones I looked through.. the mildot reticle was good. Sightron glass is mint and the SIII tracks great.. I want another but they are a big scope but have huge amounts of travel so you will be nearer the center of the scope so tracking will be more consistant (tend to be less constant near the edges of travel) Never used a 6500 but the glass would have to be up to or better than nightforce to be at sightron levels

My dads got a trijicon accupoint 5-20 on his 7mm rem mag with a milldot reticle and its mint as,optically about the same as a vx-3 so great optics to say the least.... I'd go for the trijicon tbh-combat,battle proven and you get a illuminated reticle in there aswell

Leathel 6500 glass is significantly better than nightforce glass.... Nightforce are not neccesary known for top quality glass its build quality and internal workings.... We have had nightforces, 6500s, vx3, mk4, march, IOR, weavers, kahles.. Side by side weve used them and dialled them.... Lined them up and compared glass... Nightforce is well down the list in that compartment.... However I have not looked down nor used a sightron to comment on them...

one day I will pass that way with one ... Glass is very good and workings are good they have just have been slow to get metric and decent reticles but they have most of it now...Just need to find a money tree before getting getting my replacement... 8-32 is too high for what I want. Most likley will be sightron but thet may change depending on how laden the tree is

It does vary with some peoples eyes too I was going to take the sightron road too with the latest build but have dug little further an stretched to a premier..... Who happen to be the only decent manurfactors of a quality diallable metric hunting type scope I can find....

I have the 6500 4.5-30x on my Sendero SFII 7mmRM. Very good glass (comparing to my Leupy VX3/FX3s and S&B Zenith), and dial up is fine once the true MOA per click is worked out. Its surprising how often I crank up the mag to look at something, and more surprising how effective it is when I do although head/eye placement becomes much less forgiving. I'm thinking of selling mine or putting it on my AR, and getting the March 2.5-25x illuminated tactical... nothing wrong with the Bushnell which is as new,.. just wanting a change and the March's seem to get good reviews.
