I have a 15 inch 708, works just fine with 120 or 140gr pills. I'd be more than happy taking a 400 yd shot on a deer especially with 140s.

I also have a t3 (was 708) cut to 17 inch and reamed the chamber out to 284 win. It's an awesome allrounder than can push a sleek high bc 162gr bullet at a speed that retains enough energy in theory to perform well on deer to 800 yards.

What you have will be just fine
