Go to longrangehunting.com and look in the extreme long range section. There are quite a few guys there shooting 1600 yds. Shawnee Carlock has shot deer out to 2000yds under pretty exceptional circumstances using his 338+P Edge.
.45-70 with a 6 foot ladder sight.
youll need one of these, and if you don't you wont kill the deer as good

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
Someone on the buy sell or swap thread has a 7mm Screamer and you can get his second barrel in the 338 Lapua caliber us all his reloading this at once.
I can't say much about that but you can switch back the rifle for the 338.
Good luck
This.........................................and its suppressed too for sneaky hunting (and recoil reduction) and you can increase the distance to your quarry as your skill level increases

I wonder if he has ever shot something past 300 to start with...
I think the general consensus may be that you are trying to run before you can walk!
1600m is a LONG way to hit a target, let alone to be trying to humanely dispatch an animal.
In your post you give the impression that you aren't yet very familiar with firearms, calibers, ballistics, reloading, reading wind, or any of the other basic skills required to shoot at long range?!
What rifles do you own at present?
How far have you shot them to already?
What is your current level of experience?
Perhaps answer some of these questions to give people a better understanding of where you are currently at and people may be able to offer some useful guidance.
