It is a very long walk to check a steel target first hand

Tracey keeps me posted on whos doing what but I had not heard of that. I did well the other day it only cost me 5k to get out the door if he had his way I'd be sporting a new cannon with machined 375 pills. I guess at some point I might join you guys but its not in my budget of time or money for a couple more years I expect. I'm just enjoying doing what I'm doing and showing my mate the ropes till he gets to 1000 which will be about max for his setup. In 2 weekends I got him to 765 I'm pretty stoked with that and so is he.
Hands up who has had more one shot kills at 1000+ yards (metres whatever) than misses or wounding?
how did this get to 7 pages
This is why the people that do this stuff don't post!
You have just as much chance of wounding one at 100 yards.

still to many:thumbsup:
I’d be the first to agree with that statement.
I’ll bite.
The difficulty of a 1000y shot is actually everything but the shot itself. By the time you have dug in to make the shot you already know what your ES is you already know that every time you pull the trigger your shot will be better than .5 moa you already know that this wind is say 2.5 which is a pretty typical wind adjustment even on a good day. My LR 7mm WSM is more consistent than my F-Class rifle ever was. Especially with the 180 Hybrid. The 180 hybrid is very effective at 1000y. To say I have never wounded @ 1000 is bullshit yes I have indeed. But my second shot won’t nor will my third. At best I can get about 12-15 shots before fouling etc. starts having some effect and elevation starts climbing.
In short I kill far more than I wound.
Farrk I think at at anything over a hundred metres I'm straining the barrel.....;-)

Hopefully 40" BC G1 1.07-9, already getting 2990 with 33" so hopefully 3050 + we will have to wait & see :)
Not this projectile it is the 450 Lazer but you get the idea.

When you guys run you calcs on this stuff I assume you convert to G7? I have never been able to get a G1 any where close after 800y. That said I almost always need to push the number up. The 180 Hybrid is .345 G7 but I run it at .36 to get it to calibrate from 400 to 1000y.
Yep G7 fits the flight curve better
Shit you need to buy a CNC lath gregg:D Hmm I might have to abandon this thread before I do something stupid:thumbsup:
That's cool stuff if any of this shooting happends in the North island I might have to come along and have a look. Bring my tiny little pee shooter with me.
Hawkes bay
I have a lil targetcam video camera setup plugged into a 3 watt transmitter at the target
And a 3 watt receiver and 10 inch video screen back where I shoot from
You can fire the shot then look at the screen and watch your bullet holes appear a second or three later :)
Great fun, but, 2000yrds is freaking frustrating with variable breezes/wind
Can get all the bits of eBay and make your own ($300), I wouldn't be without it
Really enjoying this thread now!! But as suspected the OP has vanished.
Damn...the one thing I shot at over 400yds was a clean kill but the time we were shooting targets at 600yds was interesting to say the least! Mind you it was about 20 knots in a very gusty gully so I don't think I ever had a chance. Love to give it a go on a nice calm day sometime.
