Calling all NZDF (serving or retired) armourers

Hi guys, I need a gas piston spring for a Steyr USR/AUG.
Anyone know where I can get one? or failing that, the specs/correct size for a replacement?
    Cheers

I think dogmatix was implying you could measure your spring length, diameter and “springiness”.

My spring length, diameter and "springiness" are also controlled items!

I think that as long as the spring fits over the gas piston and fits, it doesn't really matter. Its only there to return the piston to its start position. I never read anything saying it was for any other purpose. ive seen them work without the spring but not entirely ideal. As long as its close enough, I would say its good enough.

Hopefully that helps. Tape twists itself towards the end so can't lie flat but do the math.

Just compared my recoil springs from my 2011/1911 and theyre pretty much identical to the measurments ryan put up. 1911 recoil springs are cheap and plentiful here, just got to pick a spring weight and cut it to length.

Kinda, purchased a USR/AUG, got it home, gave it a good going over before rounds down range. Only to discover no gas spring. Contacted the seller and he said 'no spring to start with' functions fine without and yeah it does, but will function better with one I believe.

Classic, they do need them especially when dirty.
