Can I send my famley an 80% lower?

    Hello,

I'm located in the United States, but my sister and brother in law are located in NZ. So my question is can I send them an 80% lower for Charismas sense it's not a firearm? The ATF has already determined 80% lower are not firearms in the U.S, but I don't know how the authorities in NZ feel about it.

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, pretty sure they are going to treat it as a standard lower, and hence a firearm. Not worth the risk. As far as I know there is no legal president for it here, and given the current climate I think you would be asking for trouble.

Under NZ law an 80% lower has exactly the same classification as the completed part and would require an Import Permit.

Is it easy to import single shot rifles VS semi auto AR's? If so couldn't you do like we did in California and install a bullet button and mag sled? Thus rendering it a single shot rifle and not an "evil" AR.

    I found it thanks.

In terms of ‘parts’. ‘Part’ is defined in section 2 of the Arms Act 1983 as:
    part—
    (a) in relation to a pistol, restricted weapon, or military style semi-automatic firearm, includes any thing, such as a butt, stock, magazine, silencer, or sight, which, while not essential for the discharge by a pistol, restricted weapon, or military style semi-automatic firearm of any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile, is designed or intended to be an integral part of a pistol, restricted weapon, or military style semi-automatic firearm; and
    (b) in relation to any other firearm, means the action for that firearm
