    Your other option is use your phone and an adapter to digiscope using the spotter.

    The other thing to make the batteries last longer is don't use the screen on the back. Use the viewfinder as much as possible and avoid playback of videos.
    With useing the viewfinder and minimal video playback I got a battey for my sx50 to last a week and got 1 hour of video. Using the screen and playback about 15min is all I get with a SX-50.

    Something not right there mate. I always use the screen when taking pics, or mostly filming video actually. I get way longer than that on a battery. Have you tried various batteries in it?
