I don't understand this train of thought that seems to propagate about AR's. People seem to give off the idea that if you take your AR into the bush and get it wet and dirty it will fall to pieces. Mine get rolled bowled and arse-holed and they are fine. I pretty much don't maintain them at all, except for running a few patches down the bore now and then. They can be set up for LR with the right components. I'm planning on developing two loads for my Rock River carbine. A cheapish, generic hunting load for when it's wearing the Redfield 3-9 and a high BC load for reaching out further, when I decide what optic I want to use for that.
