Seeing I sold my 7mm08 to fund my passport to go to Aussie for my job I am going to be looking for a new rifle when I get back. Quite keen on the .280 so wondering what rifle makers still put out rifles chambered in .280 that are available in NZ

Kiwigreg makes a nice T3 .280
Send him a pm, reasonable price too.
Great way to have all the load development done and you get the rifle "ready to harvest"
Theres not that many manufacturers putting the .280 in their lineup, which is a pity.
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
AI it and then you will have a good all rounder.
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
t3 is a cheep way to go, Iv got the 280 reamer sitting there.
t3 7mm08 + long bolt stop + long mag + ream and slight set back of the barrel
mitch maxberry put mine together, and done a fine faultless job at that.
I like mine, but Id rather a sako 75 270 rebarreled to 280
the tikka is a load lighter, be that good or bad
ruger, sako and a few other brands pop up on trademe from time to time, if you are prepaired to wait
really tho unless you WANT a 280 there is fuck all in it over the 270.
I just like 7mm's
Except for decent pill selection

Exactly 100 -160gr I like the idea of, Plus I do like the 7mm after playing with the 7mm08 but I want something on an 06 case, To those who suggested reaming a Tikka to .280 you will never find one in my gun cupboard I would buy a lee enfield over one of those things I do not like rifles that are pathetically light and you have to buy an after market recoil pad at the same time you buy the rifle if they came with a decent recoil pad and a bit more weight to them then yes I would get one. Buuut if I have to bite the bullet I would get a .270 but not in a zkk600 this time the last one beat me up due to it not fitting my shoulder like I was hoping it would.

Got a 280 Browning A-bolt. Goes alright. Have seen a few pop up from time to time.
last time I checked they were still in the store:
Browning X Bolt Medallion 280REM
Browning X-Bolt Stainless Hunter 280 REM
Hunting is not a hobby.....its an addiction
I like .280 as a calibre. Actually made my two furthest shots with it on tuesday night, 1st was deer at 380m, 2nd was at 410m. Using 140gn sst's, nothing fancy. Nothing compared to some of the long range gurus on here, but far enough for me.
Kimber dose the 280ai I know the NZ importer has at least one going cheep. They keep trying to sell it to me. Over the New Model that's not in the country yet.
When I come back from aussie (end of Dec beginning of Jan) I will be looking into it more so I can go bush for a few days when I get back home. Leaving for Aussie on the 8th of Oct
