    Cerakote or other coatings

I have a Stainless Howa min (No not for sale ha ha)
I thinking about getting the barrel, Action, Rings and bases etc (Metal parts) cerakoted.

This is for cosmetics and some protection for the metal surfaces.

Who have you used for this and are there option around the country doing this?

Is there other forms of coatings like cerakote that are comparable in cost and durability?

I wander if the bolt and action is coated will it last or wear off quickly on wear surfaces?

    Thanks

    Waldo

Cerakote is durable, any colour you want, looks good, no real drawbacks.

Only, if I had a stainless rifle that had a tendency to ... stain ... I'd consider just having the stainless steel properly passivated, to make it an even less staining steel.

Can be done with a water + household citric acid solution at boiling point. If you are squeamish about passivating the inside of the barrel, wooden plug this.

Only thing is, make sure the parts you submerge in the citric acid boil are stainless steel, carbon steel will just keep bubbling till there is nothing left .

I've had 3 rifles done in Cerakote and have no issues, other than a scratch from metal to rock contact that was my fault. I like the idea of colour choice, whatever trips your trigger and of course ease of metal surface care.
