im looking after two rifles for a mate ,303 and a double hammer side by side .his fathers FAL expired and he was going to hand them in but my mate found out they were his grandfathers and the 303 is possibly his service rifle , he has no FAL but would like to keep them and has no interest in ever firing them . does anyone know how to go about making these unusable display rifles ?
Contact you Arms Officer, he/she should be able to tell you.
There isn't any legal definition of a deactivated firearm in NZ. If the rifle is a good condition unsporterised example it would be a pity to wreck it.
Pins out and lead in the barrel?breech end that is!
If it's unsportered don't fuck it. Send it to me and I'll send back a dunger No.1 which he can do what he wants with.
Dunno if this would satisfy them or not but could you remove the firing pin and hold it in your safe?
Its basicly a bit of pipe and kindling then and can be restored useable if need be.

No that won't cover it, it would still be defined as a firearm under the Arms Act. I'm no expert but I'd fill the chamber with weld and weld the bolt in place or something similar, something that couldn't be easily repaired.Quote:
