    have you got any basic carpentry tools and skills mate. Im a student and just finished my gun safe . i built it out of hardened pine with the back reinforced with steel .looks good and totally complies as it was checked by a firearms safety officer. cost me about $130. depends if your into wood or you'd rather have a metal safe and what sorta guns you have. wouldnt go putting anything really expensive in it as i only have my shotty ( allways stripped down when in the safe) and a air riffle. possibly keeping in mind that wooden safes may be shown the door by the law soon. hope that helped at all.
