I am looking at buying an AR 15 and was wondering if the Chinese made AR 15's are any good or is it really worth spending the extra grand on a bushmaster?
Just looking for recommendations.

Are you looking at the gun city ranger prices?
Neither.

You can get a not Chinese AR for the same or less.
Yea I was, I wasn't aware you could get non-Chinese for a lower price
Thanks for the reply mate, these look like a much better buy.
+1 for what Bevis said - I have a spikes tactical from nzar15.com and I am very happy with it.
the GC chinese ones shoot bloody well
+1. I am consistently getting 12 - 15mm 5 shot groups at 100 metres out of my 20" Ranger with 69 grain ADI Outback ammo. I hope to do a bit better with my handloads after I have finished making my own match trigger system. From a gunsmith's perspective I think the Ranger is at least as well made as any of the US products.
From what I've seen the us packaged stuff is on a par with Chinese made stuff truth be known it probably comes from the same factory and just gets a different brand stamped on it
Is Ranger a Gun City brand? I ask because I have seen Ranger scopes and shotguns advertised by GC but could not find any info online about them.
The Ranger AR's are rebadged Norinco's from China.
Same with the Ranger scopes, rebadged Chinese ones of unknown brand...
I have heard that they can shoot well. I have looked at a couple, I thought the finish was rough and the trigger was very gritty (that can be fixed). Apparently the barrel is hammer forged which should produce a good barrel but they don't say what type of steel is made out of. Materials, quality of castings and longevity would be my big questions. If you are not going to do a lot of shooting or rapid fire (service rifle) they may be fine for purpose. I had a 56s once and it shot fine but the finish was horrible in comparison with a Saiga. The Chinese stuff apparently works but there are nicer rifles for the same or lower prices.
