    Citadel Levtac 92

    Hey team
I am considering getting a lever action for the first time, as I had a play with a mates one found it refreshingly different and quite fun for plinking etc. Ideally will just be used for plinking, varminting and potentially up to goats at close range etc.

I know these are far departed from the traditional lever action, and will probably trigger a few people, but was interested to hear any feed back on the quality and reliability of the Citadel Lev Tac 92 lever actions (https://www.deltamike.co.nz/product/citadel-levtac-92/).

I am aware that lever actions appear to be inherently less accurate than bolt actions, but given the maximum range of them I am fine with that (considering 357 mag as the calibre of choice - small and quiet enough my young son could use it).

Be interested to hear any feedback related to the Citadel levers, and in general! Cheers

My local gun store is bringing some in so will be really interested to take a look in person. Looks quite ideal for a suppressor and little red dot on if I'm honest.

357 is cheaper and be a bit easier for plinking with my son etc, while also still being able to use on varmint/ small game at close ranges. I can see the attraction a 44 of 454 - definitely more cannon like.

Yeah fair enough. Getting 2300fps on 240gr xtp with my Rossi with 13.5” barrel. Most things should be down within 200m

I believe they may be made potentially in the same factory or so, at least the action? It is also made in Brazil. I like the ability to easily add a red dot on the citadel.

I am also thinking of a lev tac, the Rossi is a lot of extra work to suppress, threading and cutting the mag back. Unless you can find a tipple black version.

I would prefer ne Marlin but its a lot of $$$ for a plinking gun.

No experience with the Levtac. However plenty of experience with lever actions and the 357 magnum. I don’t think you will regret choosing 357 mag, it makes the most sense of the common pistol cartridges for a “do all gun” like you want. This is especially true if you don’t reload as finding 38 special seems to be much easier than finding 44 special ammo. Recoil even with full power 357 loads is nothing. Noise is not an issue either and I wouldn’t even bother suppressing unless you want to be really discrete. If your son can handle a 410 he will be fine shooting factory unsuppressed 38 special. If you reload you can make them really quiet. The 357 mag works well on goats and deer at typical bush stalking ranges. Even though I have a 45-70 I usually grab the 357 because it’s lighter, quieter and the venison doesn’t taste any different.

I've bought a .357 Citadel, picking it up on Friday. Will update once I've got it, but looks like it'll be a good gun for the money

Sarah has a 357 as well. You could have go with that at the same time.
Pm or text me if you are interested.
Thanks very much for the offer - something I love about this forum is the number of genuinely good guys on here. I have actually already had a play with and shot both a mates Rossi 44 Mag and 357, lightweight and slick actions. Feels like a very portable rifle when comparing it to a bolt rifle with scope, suppressor etc.

I will have a think about the 454, to be fair ammo cost will likely come into it a fair bit. Will see what I think of the Citadels when I can see them in person, or may just go for a Rossi.
