Thread: Clip on night vision

Hey all, hubby has been looking at getting a clip on night vision scope, I think the pard 007.
Has anyone used this? Any good? I was thinking of getting it for Father’s Day but it’s still a good chunk of money to risk on something neither of us have used and we don’t know anyone who has.
He currently uses a handheld thermal monocular and fairly good normal rifle scope but he’s wanting to pair night vision with the thermal monocular.

A few people on here are using these and seem to be quite happy with them. Like you, I've not been able to commit to one yet... too many other projects on the go!

I've been using a pard007 for a while now.

It's a good unit but a couple of things to keep in mind with clip on's:
They will come close to your eye, I need to put a recoil slip on over the stock to increase the length. Stops my eye being mashed up against the viewer.
Having a scope with paralax focus is very very very useful. IR light focuses at a different point from visible light. It gets old trying to shoot an out of focus rabbit when all you can ID are eyes and a blob.

The combination of a thermal for spotting and NV for shooting is just the ducks danglies.

Are there any consumer grade clip on units that attach to the objective lens rather that the ocular lens worth looking at?

Im not sure on price or how effectively they retain zero when you take them off and put them back on.

The Sytong units will save you hundreds over the equivalent Pard. We are already ordering a new shipment on top of an existing incoming shipment just to keep up with demand.
The Sytongs are available at independent dealers, just ask. Sytong will not be available at hunting and fishing due to their hypocritical anti gun stance.

Sytong has a lot under development. We have listed some of the new gear on the sytong.co.nz website. They also have an HT-77 model due in 2 months which is a clip on with range finder, plus they have thermals incoming. They definitely have the most proactive development team in the night vision industry.

Damn, that's tempting at that price! It would go with my thermal spotter quite nicely.

Hear what @Joe_90 is saying, those units look like that come back an awful long way. Are they usable?

Just clipping the pard on I struggle a bit with having it too close. Hence the slip on recoil pad to increase the length of pull basically.

The other option would be to mount the scope slightly further forward. It'll always be a compromise between day and night use I think.

I'm tempted by that Sytong HT-66 clip on for a play. @55six what are people using for scanning prior to looking through the scope? I assume it's not quick enough to pop on and off the rifle as dual scanning and scope option?

Yes its push a button and a quarter turn. Pretty quick to detach from the adapter. We have multiple size adapters landing next week so that you can mount on additional scopes.

Hi Phil, try if you can get a forward clip on(opjective bell).Then you can leave yr day time set alone.Haveing a clip on on yr eye piece just makes a mockery of trying to shoot in yr normal position.I know you will pay a little more forward clip on but worth it.You doing ok at the moment with shooting game.Wait a bit and get a good second hand forward clip on,some go for half price.
