Clip-on spotlight vs Clip-on NV. WTB

    Afternoon all.
A question for all you solo night time pest controllers,
What’s the better option these days?
I have a handheld thermal already for spotting animals so just need
Something to shoot with…. (Not quite ready to go for the full NV scope yet)

Go clip on as waving a light round will spook more animals

    This.
Sometimes I can watch five or six hares from my lawn with a thermal. Flick light on I'll get one or two.
With a clip on NV I can usually shoot the lot.
Night vision makes cats so much easier. They are really light shy.
    Overkill is still dead.

Clip ons are excellent they let you use a scope your already familiar with. But there are 2 small catches. Your scope should have parallax adjustment, as infra red focus's at a different point to white light. Without it you will have to accept either blurry cross hairs or blurry targets at night. Parallax allows you to have both in focus.
Also the unit extends into your eye relief area so adding a slip on butt pad is a good idea if you want to avoid a sore neck and akward hold.

Depends on front or rear NV clipon.
I like the front mount clipons

If interested I have just bought a new dedicated pard nv scope and have my old pard 007s for sale if interested.
Might as well go to good home.
    Pm if interested.

They certainly cure the eye relief issue. I trialled one, it was good but you had to very precise in attaching it or your poi changed from poa, also scope mag needed to be set as low as possible or you couldn't see the entire screen and it's prompts

    .
Yeah I use Rusan mounts and it returns to zero, the factory rubber clamp mount is not as reliable,
For a 3 or 3.5 base mag scope they do work well, and as a front mount I haven't needed parallax adjustable scopes, but they do pixilate above 6x, so not bad for a hunting rifle clipon and go, once zeroed etc
in saying that Im going to look at fielddays @55six stand for pure NV scopes too,
I went front mount as I get scoped with the rear mounts and glasses
    Trout and 55six like this.
