From a very relevant Wellington person today, within 48 hours of ‘the day’, Police presented this government with their long term arms act amendment wish list, hoping to get 60-70% of recommendations through.
    They got 100%.

Anything in the coming tranche 2 is from the next wish list.

If anything else is added, it’s from the hundreds of import permits being issued for pump action, straight pull and various legal modifications that importers are quite entitled to bring in or what is being designed and manufactured locally.

Just an update, there's another 22 Magnum semi automatic on the market now. Rossi just released the RS22 WMR with a 10 shot mag and an MSRP of $262US, so it shouldn't be too expensive here, either.

Full registration (staged with license renewals), increased vetting restrictions - ie prove why you need a calibre/firearm, shorter license timespan, banning of magnum calibres (50 BMG and 338s), increased user pays/cost recovery and restrictions to pistols (max 10 round mags and no more pistol chassis) have been on the Police wish list long before 15/3/19.
Ducking your head down trying to stay out of the spotlight thinking you will keep your toys is a fantasy.
What’s coming is coming. Just bend over and enjoy it.
Has there been something said officially about pistol mag restrictions?

Are there any AR style 22 Magnums?

Edit: just seen those British ones. Look like they have some potential.

You realise anything they ban further will have to be bought back? Have they really got the cash for that?

Yep and as Nash poo poo'd questions from the media on pistol restrictions at the time of the ban, apart from making a comment on a pistol chassis when shown one by the media (a gun city glock one with a drum mag from memory), and poo pood questions from stuff about 22 magnum semi auto's being banned (which the Police also poo poo'd) I would be surprised if they went after pistol magazines.

    You never know though....

Sakos are very cool, too. They are just cool in a different way. The firearms on this list are all cool in the same specific way, hence why there aren't any Sakos on the list.
We all have our own tastes in firearms, and there are no good or bad, or right or wrong tastes. Firearms are pretty much all cool in some way, shape, or form.
I don't want to give the impression that these are the only cool guns or that I have something against any other types of guns. I like them all.
    No need to be diplomatic.

Everyone knows @Ryan_Songhurst is a bit special. He headbutted a duck (or was it a rooster?) as a kid; got a little bit concussed; and his brain hasn't fully recovered since. It's why he's drawn to lame guns such as Sakos.

no but that hasn't stopped them yet. Hundreds of Kiwis are not getting cancer treatments promptly or not best available because of cost and yet a shit ton of money was found overnight for something that will have almost zero effect on anything apart from making politicians feel good.

Pulled the funds from kiwibuild no? Surely they wouldn't do a thing like that.

Here's another really cool example, the Chiappa RAK-22.
It's a 22 AK clone that is built in Romania.
It looks and handles almost identically to a real AK and is only slightly lighter.
Gun City has them for $1500. They sell in the States for around $400USD, so you should be paying $900ish at most here.
Probably contact 55SIX or Burley Arms if you want a decent deal on one. These are arguably the best of the 22 AKs.

The first grab happened without any casualties...
Another tragedy would sell it to the public.

I guess technically it wasn't directly connected to the "buy-back", but that Russian guy died in Christchurch.

Also, the "buy-back" may have mostly "happened," but the numbers would suggest that the majority of affected gun owners decided not to take part in it, so "happened" is somewhat relative.
