    Counterfeit Leupolds

    Hi Guys
    Ive just been burned by a fake VX3 from a guy in ChCh via trademe,
    Beware when buying 4.5x14x40 VX3.

    When looking at buying a 2nd hand Leupold scope, get the serial number and contact Leupold. They will usually give you an answer within a few days as to whether its fake or not.

    I saw then on trademe, pretty easy to tell they re fake when you look at the centre of the tube around the turrets it's a totally different shape, also turret caps look larger and turrets themselves are printed white where a real vx3 are printed gold

    This one actually has gold printed turrets (although they still dont actually look like a vx3i turret) but others I have seen don't, still turret caps are taller, centre of tube is different etc

    Ive asked for a refund,
    Waiting to see what happens, Ill give him a week to resolve it.
    Based on the limited communication im getting from him he was quite aware it was fake and doesn't care either way.

    Alert the Police and Trademe as well. Try and find the thread on the gaming forum about taking someone like that to court, an entertaining read at least.

    that was straight up take cash and run with no good provided, might not work in the case of counterfeit goods.
