    Country of Origin

I spend alot of time reading about scopes. rifles , whats new whats the best load etc mostly on Usa sites, never thought anything of it.
Then tonight got to thinking I need another scope.

    This led to.....
Out of my rifles and guns only one of them is actually fully American and that's the V3 shotgun .I have a custom on a Remmy action
Out of 10 scopes 4 are made in the Usa 2x nightforce and 2 leupys the rest are Euro

I thought that was interesting, as it was never deliberate, just what I thought best at the time
How does that compare with you.?

I just like what I got.

There is a right old mixture of all sorts from pretty much everywhere. Nothing overly even remotely flash, but useful. Couple of Nikons, Bushnels, Weavers, and hold your hat ... Nikko Stirling.

Firearms are even more agricultural. No point in me getting anything to 'nice'. I'd ruin it modifying it.

NF glass is made in Japan. Scopes are assembled in the US.

There we go then , only 2 scopes made in USA,

And if that's the case it must be made to a price as N/F glass, well the NXS is terrible when you compare.

I was reading up on this a few months back with respect to watches. At what point can the watch have the "made in" whatever country? I think it was Japan I looked at that if a certain percentage of the item is made in Japan it would qualify for the "made in Japan" label. Cannot remember the %age so it may vary from country to country even within the items themselves. Probably no worldwide standards. Some manufacturers seem more honest with their made in labeling.

With scopes, Leupold for example no longer make the categoric claim of made in USA.
Not sure but I don't think there has been a lens maker in the USA for a while.

My old NXS is totally made in Japan. Latest models are as already posted, are assembled in USA. Is Japanese scope better than the more recent models, who knows.

Years ago I contacted Burris to ask them the source country for their just released Timberline scopes. It took 2 emails to drag out of them the Phillipines (probably now China). Gave me some weasel talk about made to our world class standards in a partner factory.

I'm a pleb. Most of my stuff is Japanese in one form or another.

I do have a Marlin 22 and Winchester 12ga as USA stuff

I had Chinese and Canadian, but Jacinda wanted them (where does she get the time to shoot all those rifles??)

The only Euro thing I own is a CZ 75

Light Optic Works in Japan will make a scope to any budget that a customer wants!!

Delta Stryka are making an inroad in the US however most US shooters seem to think USA is best.

Most of my stuff is European or Japanese.

IOR is German glass but Romanian assembled.

I think my bushnell was probably in the Philippines. But the price was right and it works well.

Had a vx 2 that was great on my 223.

Never really been brand fussy. As long as its well made and well priced
