Well don't know about you but if I was from America if certainly be inclined to support American companies and American workers. Dunno about if they're the best though

Try banging 6 inch spike in with any other scope and see how ya get on.

To be fair the NX8 I looked through was set up on a rifle belonging to some one else and I didn't adjust anything to suit me, just looked.
The only ones I own are NXS and ShV F1

Recently invested in an NX8 after playing the field. Great glass great package. I have a bunch of various high end glass and the nx8 is at the table. My current choice as full package.

    An interesting question.
Most of my scopes are either US or European brands. Leupold, Bushnell and Lyman for the former and Pecar and Meopta for the latter. Some of the Bushnell scopes are marked made in Japan as is an old Tasco. Rifles were made in the US, Canada, UK, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Spain, Germany and Australia. I don't have any NZ made rifles although we did make them at one stage, both .22 RF and centre fire.

The USA has quite different "rules" around "Made in the USA" compared with many other countries. Don't quote me on the exact numbers but to stamp something "made in the USA" it needs 15 or 20% locally added value, whereas most countries require 75 or 80% locally added value. This is why companies like Ziess and Glock etc take all their parts to the US, assemble them there and take the yank consumers for suckers with "Made in the USA".

There used to be another clip floating around. Guy shooting 100yd group. He fired a shot, removed the scope (on QD rings IIRC) then threw it as hard as he could down range. Retrieved, re-attached, fired another shot. Repeated down range hurl. 5 times in total I think, great group.

And then there was the one on NF's website showing during Op Desert Storm (maybe the wrong location but a hot zone somewhere) where an AK bullet has passed thru the tube at right angles just fwd of the ocular lens. Scope remained in service until a more convenient time was available for replacement.

Yeah watched that one zimmer, I think it's is now or was on their webb site.

Saw the other as well though surely it would matter just where the bullet went through

No doubt though that they are tough as scopes.

Getting OT now but reminds me of Carlos Hathcock when he shot the NV sniper called Cobra. They had been stalking each other for some time and Hathcock saw the glint of Cobra's scope (sloppy workmanship), fired and the bullet passed clean through Cobra's scope. That would have buggered that scope. Hathcock remarked that it didn't do Cobra's eyesight any good either.

    End of OT.
