I shipped from rotorua to South Island yesterday. Cost was $25 for a boxed rifle. The shipping was from an approved member of Firearms Dealers Network here to another member down south. I understand that Fastways was the firm used for the cartage, but they will only take goods from one network member to another.
Southland members are Custom Guns, invercargill, Delta Mike, invercargill and Fiordland Frontier Supplies, Te Anau. Any of those dudes should be able to receive your package for you.
I shipped ammo inter island with Toll 2 weeks back. (Less than 5 kg)

Use the firearms dealer network.
FYI: addressee received his firearm within three days. (Marlborough). No hassles uplifting it from the dealer network dealer.
Using this system are you doing the FAL form or just licence visual each end.
Police form.
I used fal viewing each end. Sender agent photocopied my licence.
Thank you for that info
So no Permit to Procure
FAL given at drop off and FAL shown at pick up
Is that correct @Ingrid51
Update- April 2019
Fastway Couriers- firearm policy and procedures.
Following a recently completed review of our policies and procedures pertaining to the movement of firearms and firearm parts, Fastway Couriers can confirm that an updated policy has been introduced to permit the limited shipment of firearms throughout New Zealand.
Strict procedures have been introduced as part of the updated policy, including the restriction of firearm movements to between only registered firearms dealers. To find out more, or to apply for known shipper approval, please contact your local Regional Franchise
