FYI if the value of any imported goods - firearms or otherwise - is above $1000, then an agent is required. If the value is below $1000, then you just need the permit to import and can contact customs yourself.

I have recently imported rifles more than NZD $1000.00 in value. Using my Customs Client Code I cleared through Customs myself, paying gst plus their charges / fees. I still think using a Customs agent is easier but some costs can be saved by doing it yourself. If you don't havs much spare time the Customs agent is a good option.

The transaction is under $1000. I can't see a way to contact customs, any tips? Will get a quote from an agent also
