    CZ SP01 Shadow

About to splash out on another essential must have item for the Gun Safe.

What's your thoughts either +/- on this pistol?

Will mostly be used for social IPSC comps and a few 3gun comps

    Cheers
    Pete

I like mine but I've only put like 300 rounds through it. Haven't really got anything bad to say about it.

    @gimp

How do you get on dropping the hammer on a loaded chamber to begin the course of fire in double action?

    Cheers

Serious answer: I've done the same thing since I was about 10 with lever actions, I don't find it to be a big deal. Never had an ND doing that.

Teaching is to grasp it with your thumb and forefinger and ease it down while squeezing the trigger.

How many matches start using double action?
Never seen a lineup where everyone's got one.

Production class starts Double Action first shot with the Hammer down.

Although I did notice some SP01 Shadow users starting fully cocked, but this was only during practise.

I have looked at the Dual Tone but wonder what do you really get for $200 extra.

    Cheers

Shop around, I've seen the dual tone for $1650ish
They have gone up to $1550ish from $1400 in the last year for the base model.

I have never shot a proper production match.
So what happens with 1911 style pistols and the like?

1911s arnt production guns. There is a list of approved production guns, use google. 1911/2011s types are in the realm of standard, single stack and open divisions. I used a shadow in standard for a while. Not realy suited to it unless you shoot only alphas and realy fast. Also the mag capacity is limited compared to a tricked out .40 2011

I love mine. Put shitloads of rounds thru it and only issues it has had, is my shoddy reloading.

Very accurate and well balanced pistol.
Nice trigger. Easy to maintain. 18rnd mags.
Feels like a gun compared to a lot of the composite made frames.

I don't have anything bad to say about it either. When mine is buggered I will be buying a new one.

Spend the the bit extra and get a dual
    tone. Wish I did.

Load, rather forgiving. 3.9 worked real well, but my 9mm carbine needed a bit more, and only wanted to have 1x 9mm load so up'd to 4.2 of vit n320 and all was good. 124gn rusa projectiles, fed and fiocchi primers(prefer feds) and a real basket case of brass, through a 650 with carbide dies.
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

How easy do you source the N320?

    I'm running AS30N and AP70.
Don't really like the 30N but I have kilos of it.

Ah well, i actualy run out of n320, about 8mths ago, but had a few loaded up. Tried using as30n, mixed success plus blood dirty, and the 650 does not like metering it - up to .5gns spread.
Then, last week was offered 2kgs of n320..... Didnt even get to figure the price before saying yes.
Its rare as hens teeth at the moment. And no sorry, keeping it all to myself
