    Damn, T3x

Never thought i would, explored so many options trying not to, will probably kick myself and the Grandkids for generations to come.

Be that as it may I am now the owner of a fast twist Tikka t3x in 223, simply the lite model as i figure it has a smaller hole in the barrel than the bigger calibers so should be ok to run bigger bullets slower without heating too fast.
I'm looking at changing, stock, bottom metal and increasing mag capacity, any advice welcome
    cheers,

I’ve got a t3 superlite fast twist .223, don’t use it much but it’s very accurate and not fussy to shoot. They are the corolla of rifles

Please excuse my ignorance and I ask this out of straight interest
Going back 10 or so years the Tikkas weren't to bad a rifle yeah? Did they go backwards in production values as they seem to have the piss taken out of them heaps?
In saying that in this case is there not an applicable rifle already in that configuration? It seems there wont be much left of the original rifle.

    Tikka's aren't a bad rifle, I have owned 55, 590 690, 695 all accurate.

The T3, its just arrrrrggggg , well you know.

    However.
I can no longer ignore the fact that they shoot, and in this instance can be bought and modified to my spec without going to the expense of a custom.

I have found the Bell and Carlson stocks a good economical upgrade for the Tikka.
A trigger spring from Ebay or similar and the Atlasworxs bottom metal works well. If you want the space and not bothered by the size, go fo rthe AI conversion bottom metal and you're set. I found the Bolt stop had enough length to take the 75 ELDM loads.
But that's just from one experience with the .223 Tikka

GRS Berserk stocks are great, so are Atlasworx shrouds and bottom metal for AICS mags. I prefer the genuine AI poly mags over the MDT and Accurate mags which are just the 308 version with a poly insert. Heavy as fark....

Stug stock is a great option, I recently made enquiries however the forecast 8 month wait was more than my patience would allow, shame really as they are very cheap for what they are and indeed local.

Tikkas are fantastic rifles, they are just so common these days guys like to try be different and not jump on the Tikka band wagon.
Hence the Jakewires internal struggle to want something different but can't look past the Tikkas good value.

The B&C stocks are nice, feels a bit nicer than the standard stock without having to jump to a chassis. My 260 shoots really well in it, but I've never shot it in the factor stock too know if there was any difference.

If you wanted to go Tacticool the KRG Bravo looks really good haven't seen anywhere that sells them in NZ yet but the are verywell priced in the US and Ozzy, will then take AI mags.

I love the Southfort labs stock I've got on my 6.5, but depends how much you want to spend. Also really like the vertebrae bolt handle and knob I got. The .223 T3x I had before swapping it was stupid accurate with the 65gr sierra gk!
