    Dan Can = BOMB

I mean they are "da bomb man"

No Spanners is has not turned into a grenade yet............. early days only 80 odd shots.

I wanted a bush gun................but one that was still capable of shooting out to 700 yards, as where I hunt there are plenty of slips that are hard to get close to. I did not want a long range gun as I've already got one that does LR well.

I have just finished working up a load for my T3 7mm Mag. I chose to go short (for this caliber) at 21 inch with a magnum Hardy supppressor. 300mm long and 392 grams. This makes the overall length 25mm longer than standard. Fit and finish appear good. With a 6500 Bushell fitted it weighs a tad over 8.5lbs and points reasonable.

The load I settled on is 70gr 2213sc with 162gr SST traveling at 2965 f/sec. I've shot this load in 5 X 3 shot strings. The best group at 100 yards is 12mm and the worst is 15mm. These were shot in normal field conditions with a bit of wind, flys buzzing around and off a bi-pod.

With the job done I went for a quick hunt. Knocked 3 goats over at 388 yards then stretched it out to 818 yards (so much for 700 limit) getting 2 with 3 shots. I'm happy with the result and think it will fill the role I built it for.

Thats some pretty good speeds given the short barrel length, have to agree though, post some photos!

Speed is about right. I use to run 69.5gr 2213 and 154gr SST in a Rem 700 with 23 inch barrel and got 3070 f/sec, - about 35 f/sec off per inch = 3000, then abit more off for the slightly heavyer pill = 2950 + .5gr more powder = 2965 f/sec. Thats a real long winded way of saying "Speed is about right"

Looks like I'm gonna have to shorten the barrel on my T3 Laminated 7mmRM now! I'll probably just go to 22 inches. Will wait and see if yours blows up first though

That sounds like a pretty warm load for 2213sc (I use 73gr 2225 for same speed)

quick load shows it about 12,000 psi above spec ( depending on the COL)

    "Hi Honey, I'm home"
Another 15 rounds through the "yet to become a bomb" Dan Can. Whats a man to do? cut some more off the barrel or use a bigger scoop of powder? The waiting is killing me.

Shit lazy your'e a brave man
It's not me that is brave.
It was the stupid goat at 748 yards that looked calmly into the face of death and waited patiently for the 162gr SST to smash his sholder and vitals to bits after not 1, but 2 shots went high of the target.
But wait, it must be the all new DAN CAN, can't hear'em, can't see'em, can't even smell'em, these Dan cans must be magic.
