Dan Hardy is making a Rem 700 clone Action!

How many of you had a look at the sample Rem 700 clone on Dan Hardies stand at the Sika Show?

You know the best point about it...they are going to do a left hand version at $100 less than the right hand version! (two guys that work there are left handed).

I suggested they should consider making the bolt lift 70 deg to give more clearance to the scope eyepeice. I cant understand why all of the R700 clones being made in the States are 90deg bolt lift. All the scopes are now comming out with 30 mm tubes and larger diameter eyepieces which is reducing the clearange to the bolt handle to the extent that on my R700 with a Zeiss conquest 6-20 (thats still a 1" tube) there is so little clearance the bolt doesnt clear the scope lense cap! Thats about 3mm

    Cheers
    Grant

I think I was told $400? Not bad I guess. Saves buying a donor rifle.

I was told a lot more than that....but it was all a bit of a guess, Dan wasn't there when I saw them, not that light but if the price was right it would be worth a look

    $400 is hilariously cheap

I hope it's better than some of the stuff I've seen from HRE

Don't quote me on $400 I THINK that is what the big fella at the booth told me. I did notice they are quite chunky.

Every thing out of dans wrkshop that ive seen has been tiptop. I know he had a couple of failures with his earlier cans . But i highly doubt the 400 dollar price tag. Youd be able to build a complete custom for cheaper than an off the shelf sako

Toss barrel, stock, trigger etc and use the action as the base for a custom rifle.

I had my .223AI built by HRE and while it shoots well the machining is rough, inside of the stock was just attacked with a dremel, etc

My AR barrel was done by HRE as well, as they were recommended as the people for AR stuff and it had undersized gas port, barrel wrong diameter at gas port, chamber not cut straight in the barrel, no m4 feed ramps in an upper with m4 feed ramps... Not real impressed.

If it's old, wornout, worthless, yes. Or sell it.
