Tbh I'm in the same boat and still deciding on a pack.
I recommend searching on here and you'll see multiple threads with various opinions, input and photos.

Make a short list and keep an eye on the buy sell thread.

    Hands down a tatonka Stealth.

I've got the 35+10 but they do 2 other models smaller.

Had mine for 6 years or so and never let's me down. Like all tatonkas bulletproof(not litterly) and they are super comfy plus take alot of weight and bear it nicely.

I've been using a Markhor Marcho 35 ltr as a day and for light 1-2 night trips.
Tent, bed roll, mat, water, food and some thermals, gloves and beliclava, light wind/rain proof, jet boil and rifle,
Have had up to 25 kg in/on it.
Love the way the frame keeps it off your back except at the wastebelt and shoulders, the extra air circulation is very nice in summer and warmer weather.
Has a couple of zipped pouches on the waist belt. expandable side pockets. Can strap the rifle on the back for when you need 2 hands or the track is open.

Only down side is it looks like the price has doubled since I got mine.

Just get on of these & ya sorted

Not a 100% perfect (no chest strap or key loop ) it's a small 40lt, but bomb proof, light, strong & awesome - you won't regret

Second this. I have a spare one in black I would be willing to let go. It’s the earlier model before the gun scabbard mod but Twinneedle could add this if desired, however probably not required if predominantly a day bag. Still in great condition.

Easily fits inside the pack and lightweight. I intend to sling legs and tie backsteaks to the outside.

    What he said.

On the other hand, my daughter stole mine so I'm now using the hunterway - which is a lot larger than 25l, but can fit a mountain of meat in and seems indestructible.

You can always leave space in a big pack, but its hard to put 50l of stuff in a 25l bag when big red hits the deck.
