Thread: Decent low mount 30mm rings

Im after some decent low mounting weaver style rail rings for my 338, what are good options ( PS- they don't have to be light, just low )

bugger all options out there from my search, though my criteria excluded steel due to weight.

-Burris XTR make low (0.25")
-talley alloys - low (0.30") and no bases, so probably the lowest option, but you wont use your rail.

if you want "real" low then only option is the good old Weaver detachable top mounts. They make a 30mm low (0.089")...us$20 from Optic Planet and nz$90 at your local H & F

Everything else out there in 30mm seems to be high or xtra high!

Dont think ring manufacturers have figured out that 30mm scopes arnt just for tactical rifles with adjustable cheekpieces to accomodate high mounted scopes!

NB Brownels also list them but wont ship out of hte states due to their supply agreement with Weaver. Obviously the NZ wholesalers have tied things up with Weaver, but Optics Planit is not enforcing it!

TPS Tactical Scope 30mm Rings

Leupold MK4 30mm medium rings are the same height as their PWR 1" low rings at O.8" ,pricey but....

The PWR are alot less money but only go down as far a 1.0" height.

at 0.82' those TSP's arnt "super Low" by any streach of the imagination!

Nightforce rings would do the job nicely

Depending on what rifle you have, Near Manufacturing make some nice stuff... I have 1 of his 34mm Alphamounts on my 338. 3 rings & base in 1 unit that attaches to the rail. He also does some direct mount 1's for various rifles...
