A Steyr Mannlicher .243 which I bought new in 1974 had a Makrolon (fancy name for some kind of plastic) trigger guard, magazine housing and rotary magazine. The front screw that went through the magazine/trigger housing, cracked it under even moderate pressure. I saw the same thing on every used Steyr I came across. For a rifle that cost $420 in 1974 (new Sako Forester was $259) it was not good regardless of Steyr's claims. Otherwise, a fine rifle.
Yep that's the one, cracked the first trigger guard, but the second one's still hanging in there, about 30yrs now.
