Hi there,
I want to suppress my Bushmaster AR15 16", ideally with a DPT over barrel unit.
But i understand if i have a stock gas block that i should limit my shooting to <60 rounds per hour...
I would like to stay with the factory front iron sight/gas block.
Is this really a problem, and what will the consequence be if i shoot more rounds, does to much gas get directed to the BCG?
Help, opinions please

You can modify your current gas block into an adjustable fairly easy if you have access to a drill press
Gas bust with some high temp silicon... I haven't done mine yet, but will do.

In my experience yes you do need and adjustable gas block, you get sick of the smell of ammonia from the blowback very quick, recoil increases noticeably and rifle is quieter with the gas turned right down. Would do it on an un-supressed AR even

Shooting a AR with a can on on will reduce the life of your bolt, if you don't take measures to control the excess energy applied to it. I am Using an H3 counterweight buffer which helps with my 16" Colt but ejection is still a little violent. It's under gassed without the can on though, had a couple of occasions where the bolt didn't fully lock back. I will probably convert the gas block to an adjustable at point as well.
I've never had any issues with mine spitting shit in my face with a suppressor on it.
EDIT: All I've ever done is apply a thin layer of grease to the charging handle where it runs inside the receiver
Probably because your one has a short dwell time to begin with
I have a feeling dpt suppressors arn't rated for for sustained fire forget who told be that someone did it was awhile ago now could have a new model out or something
Alloy suppressors full stop aren't suited to sustained fire. It loses its tensile strength when you get it hot.

Hi guys, if its any help to anyone I have a adjustable gas block that I want to swap for a non adjustable one but it needs to be suitable for a .625 barrel. I dont run a suppressor and want to go back to a non adjustable. Or failing that buy a new one outright if someone has one for sale? Cheers
I have a question semi related to this, I want to suppress and get an adjustable gas block but I wondered what happens if I take the suppressor off on the odd day. Will I have adjusted the gas block in a way that my ar won't cycle or anything? Sorry if that's obvious I'm a newbie to the ar. Or am I best to adjust right down to where it's happy without the suppressor on first and just leave it at that

Yeah. I have a click adjustable block so it's easy to adjust between gas settings, but I don't use the gun unsuppressed. I would only consider swaping between suppressed and unsuppressed if you have a qd suppressor. A bare muzzle is pretty pointless, at least on shorter barrels.
