LAPD finds 1,200 guns, two tons of ammo in dead man's Pacific Palisades home - LA Times

More than 1,200 guns were strewn about the Palisades Drive house and garage, police said. The weapons ranged from high-end pistols to shotguns and rifles. Many had never been fired. Some were still wrapped in their boxes, with the price tags still attached.

Police also found roughly two tons of ammunition.

Detectives are also trying to find out why the man had so many guns. Smith said there were no initial indications that the man had a criminal motive, no signs he was smuggling the weapons or plotting any sort of attack.

His guns to ammo ratio is not quite right. 1200 guns should work out to about 7-10 tons of ammo.
That's what I work on anyway.

If you were buying 1200 guns you would probably get the 2 tonnes of ammos for free with them any way.
Just enough to brake in the barrels! :-)

i have seen on US forums questions like ' how many guns do you own but never fired ' .. . and there is plenty of guys with more than one sitting around. In some ways it seems to me that having to much money and to many toys, when buying is more important than using them, you have a problem .. . . to me.

Is that not normal?

If collecting is your thing, then do so if it makes you happy: but you cannot take 1,200 guns hunting...

Makes me realise how lucky I am - mine just says "hey, new gun ? Nice !"

1,200 though, yeah nah....

My better half just rolls her eyes, but I think if i tried for 1200 I would have problems-space being just one of them!
