    DPT help

Hi everyone, Merry Christmas and all that good stuff.

I’ve just purchased a second hand DPT Suppressor for my Creedmoor off the yellow site and went to fit it to my rifle and the bushing (I think that’s what the piece is called - I’m new to this game) is a bit tight so I can’t thread it on properly.

What can I do about this? Buy another bushing with a larger hole? Take what I’ve got into a gun smith?

Thanks in advance and apologies if my query has an obvious answer!Name: IMG_4127.jpeg

You need to turn the bushing on a lathe to fit.
DPT can do this for you, as could an engineering shop or home hobbyist.
Just measure the barrel diameter at the point where the bushing will go.

It's not rocket science, just use round/half round file and CAREFULLY remove material till it nearly fits then use fine sand paper to smooth it out... Or do as above has suggested.

Or do a home job and get a 3 or 4 jaw lathe chuck for your drill.

Screw silencer on and mark where it comes to on the barrel without the bush. Take it off and measure the diameter of the barrel at that point where you'd expect the bush to sit. Approx 10mm further than the silencer( measure how far it comes out of the silencer when in place)Take the bush to anyone with a lathe and turn it out too be at least 2 thou larger than that measurement. You can run even without it. But risk foliage etc getting down the gap. Bush should just have a small clearance. Even a drill press with a close size drill bit would work to enlarge it. They are designed/ expected to be turned to suit the individual barrel when bought so made with a relatively small hole to start with.

The local gun shop did mine when I swapped it to a new rifle bought from them.

The main function of a bushing is to protect the muzzle thread if the can gets an impact. You want definite clearance of the bushing from the barrel, else you're likely to find your zero will change each time it's refitted. The can should nip up without rubbing along the barrel as you screw it on.

    DPT help

I just changed DPT suppressor to a new rifle. I just measured barrel diameter where the bush would sit. Sent pictures and measurement to DPT. Sent me a new bush for $15 incl freight. Got here in two days. Easy peasy. Hardly worth trying to do it yourself.

They aim for a pretty close fit on these. My barrel was 18.84mm and they sent me an 18.9mm internal diameter. A DPT one will be a way better fit than anything you will do with files or drill bits

You just measure back from the shoulder the required amount, I think it's on DPT website at that point measure the barrel dia and give that to DPT and they machine a new one with clearance.

For the best results, we recommend having the bush machined on a lathe. We've encountered numerous drilled bushes that were not perfectly concentric, including one recently that was approximately 1mm off-center. If it’s convenient, you can order a bush directly from our website, and we’d be happy to machine it for you to ensure precision.

    Cheers.
