    DPT Threading Photos

I am just getting my life in order to get my hunting rifle up to the North Island and then to DPT for suppressor purchase and threading. Does anyone have any photos of threading jobs by DPT, particularly the crown and how the supplied thread protector comes out?

It is a 270win Howa 1500 with a sporter barrel about 21.5”. My intention is to shorten it to 20”, and thread 9/16-24 for a Mk2 Overbarrel with a stainless baffle. I have 0.635” on barrel thickness at 20” so open to suggestion if there are better thread sizes to consider.

Both my current rifles were done by the smith that built them so I can’t give example photos however dpt have done nearly all of my others and they have all being out standing

I’ve had about half a dozen rifles threaded by dpt, always a first class job.

I have a few done by dpt also and all have been excellent jobs . The crown is nice and shiny I'm sure it makes it easier to clean the crap off that builds up there after shooting with suppressor on. I will probably stay with dpt if I get any new gear also .

Do they reblue (atleast cold blue) the steel where the threads were?

And does anyone know if you can choose a crown type, my preference is to recessed crowns. I’ll get in touch with them Monday either way.

Can't say as I have never done a blued rifle but when I get home I could take some pics anyway

We generally don’t tend to reblue and leave that to the customer.

I should add I'm very happy with the results, both aesthetically and functionally.

Very happy with the work they did on my rifle. Done 6 years ago. Made my own thread cap because I can.

    Hey Ollie,
There is a couple of gunsmith here in Blenheim if you still live here. No need to send to DPT. Just buy suppressor and take your set up to the local guy

Hi Daniel, yeah still here (well went away and came back). I’m tossing up sending it to Chris Murphy, who always seems to do a tidy job!
blair993 and 300wsm for life like this.
