    Drilling holes out in suppressor

    Hi all.
Im wondering if its acceptable to drill holes out in a suppressor...?
I have a dpt magnum 7mm/270 cal suppressor i would like to open up for a 308.. is this a thing or am i dreaming? I have the tools and skills but dont want to wreck a near new suppressor if it doesn't work out.
Would ideally like to run the same suppressor on both rifles if i can.
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Drilling out the suppressor modules would remove the hard anodising so I personally wouldn't do it.

I had thought about that. Hmmm definitely something to consider.

Yeah i can't really see why i cant. I have a lathe so was going to use that if i do it.
I think I'll try it and either learn a valuable mistake or be happy.

As long as the cartridge you're drilling it out for is in the same general class and not a way more powerful cartridge with much more powder, then its ok.

Eg drilling a 243 can out to work with a 308 would be OK. Or a 223 can to work with a 7.62x39 would be OK etc.

But drilling a 223 can out to work with a 308 class cartridge would not be ok.

Yeah thats what i was thinking as my 270 can is a dpt magnum it would be fine..
Next question i guess is what sort of clearance is acceptable.

I think from memory it might have the factory size on their website for the 30cal ones.

If i'm not mistaken, the cans are all the same just drilled out for different bore sizes.

Cant seem to find anything about whole sizes on dpt website. Google has very mixed opinions.

I'd offer to measure my 30cal DPT but wouldn't be confident of how accurate my budget calipers are. I'm sure someone could though?

The closer the hole size to the projectile size the better the suppression will be and the greater the potential for accuracy upset from any miss alignment .
    And the reverse is true.
My 30cal dpt has bore dimensions of approximately 9.02 mm including the anodizing/coating

@Ned thats probably an even better idea!
I could probably just measure my 270 suppressor and that would give me the tolerance to the projectile
