Put a new scope on so thought I would relive the barrel channel a little while I was at it hopefully it will still shoot otherwise I'll be looking for a new stock shortly

I think 'remove' may be a better word choice...
born to hunt - forced to work
Should probably be in the Humour section, if there was one.
It wouldn't worry me so long as the rifle still shot well, which it evidently does. As someone already said it should be much easier to blow out crud that ends up in the barrel channel. I'm always surprised by how much I find in the stock hollows of my Tikkas when removing the stock.
If guys rib you about the queer looking stock try BS'ing about how much unnecessary weight was removed while tightening groups by 1/2 inch and wait to see if anyone else does the same.
You might have started a new trend.....watch this space You do whatever you like, its your rifle, very functional mod.
