    E-CAT Endorsement

Is it possible, after serving the military(5 years) it is easier to get your E-CAT, understanding you need an E-CAT when your in the military since they use 30 round mags.
The reason could be your taking a break from the military and you need to keep your shooting at the same recommendations and you have join a rifle club.

One of the questions is what experience have you had with firearms so being ex military will possibly help(it did in my case) Join a club that shoots mssa,s and that will help in your application and have a couple of reputable referees that belong to the same club with E cat. These aren't a requirement but it all helps. You don't need E cat or even a firearms licence if you are serving in the military never have and never will. Not even the police need a licence to carry and use an M4 while serving.

James are you army navy or airforce? I spent 10years in the Army in total and never did anyone have to sit a firearms licence to use military weapons. Some of us did get our firearms licence only so we could purchase our own rifles.

    Section 2.41 Police Arms Manual

    1. Members of the New Zealand Defence Force and members of the Police do not require a
Firearms Licence to possess or carry firearms, airguns, pistols, restricted weapons,
ammunition or explosives in the course of their duties. (Section 3, Arms Act 1983).
    2. Members of the Defence Force and Police who apply for a Firearms Licence are required to
undergo the same vetting procedure as members of the public. They are required to attend
the firearms lecture and pass the test, unless they can produce written evidence they have
already done so (as part of training).
