Just got a call from Firearms Licensing to arrange the routine 3 year audit. Seems a bit odd they're still doing them since E cat endorsements no longer exist and MSSA's no longer exist.

Behind the 8 ball I would say. I emailed NZPHQ to advise them I had imported items listed in my import permits and they replied saying thank you for advising, but the permits are now cancelled following the law change.
WTF? :wtfsmilie:
The inspections for E endorsement holder will still occur to confirm the location for the MSSA firearms that are registered and not collected yet.
It kind of makes since to me.

Except there is no such thing any more as an MSSA. The former MSSA's are now legally just as any other outlawed semi-auto centrefire. There is no E cat and therefore no E cat audits in law. Also means you can store the now-unlawful firearm as per A cat standard of storage -- which is the only legal storage standard , aside from B cat which still exists.
Continuing to store the firearm securely is probably a condition of the amnesty.
I would have protested, but if it's the same guy as last time I'll enjoy the chin wag
Of course the irony of Police auditing former E cat endorsement holders to ensure secure storage of prohibited firearms is not lost on people this week.
If you know the fellah well then you have a chance to probe how he and his associates on the ground feel about what has happened in the last couple of months. I for one would like to know.
Hopefully they begin the audit at Palmerston North Station.
Is that the same place they kept that bull? The one that got out on the Auckland motorway :yaeh am not durnk:
I just had my storage( A cat) checked last week. Guy doing the check did not seem too enthused about the whole thing. Think he was pretty septic over the whole your fired..... sorry please come back thing. Said going away from dealing with people face to face was a big fuck up.
Stupid thing is MSSA endorsement is now defunct/void and mssa's banned due to their law change. However if you are a "professional pest controller/culler" you can still have them.
So what endorsement are they covered under then?

I wonder if all with the MSSA (E-Cat) endorsement will automatically get the new endorsement?
Considering the costs to get that MSSA endorsement and the extra hurdles to jump, they'll either have to pay out or endorse with whatever the new 1 will be called.
Well look at that........WILD ANIMAL CONTROL! Himmmmm deer thar etc no longer called pests:thumbsup: also control not eradicate :)
