Excl lite stock : adding sling?

Just got an Excl stock for my son’s Howa. It’s got a sling stud up front, and nothing on the butt. Nearest I can tell I need to buckle the sling to the butt through one of the slots in the molding. Is that what others have done?

I drilled a hole in the bottom front of the butt pad/shoulder pad then screwed in a normal sling attachment, also glued it to help make sure it didn't come out

I used a short length of paracord to make up a couple of small loops for a QD sling swivel to attach to. If doing it again, I'd remove the swivel and paracord it directly to the butt
