Are factory Tikka rings that bad?

Everyone seems to swap them out. Are they really that bad? All I want to do is mount the scope once and leave it alone after that.

No they aren't bad. One thing you could do is buy stainless steel screws to replace the soft factory ones as they will "chew out" only about $13 from gun works. Imo optiloks are too heavy and expensive for what they are.
I personally prefer Talleys on my rifles

I have used standard Tikka rings on my 300WM and 7mmRM without any problems. They do what they are supposed to do.

As said, swap the screws out.

I had a pair bind so bad with 20 inch pounds of torque that they had to be ground off.

    I prefer Talley also.

I had a pair of factory rings on a Tikka for years without a problem.
But after switching out scopes a few times I put them back on the rifle and it was shooting like shit, eventually turned out to be the rings (not sure what happened as they were fine).

I have two Tikkas and both have Talley one piece rings, they haven't caused me any grief, weigh as little as the factory ones and are definitely stronger.

Just a quick question, but are the Burris rings any good?

I have just put a set on my 6,5 x 55 with my new Vortex. they seem to look and do the job, I was pressed for time (And cash) so I took the first set that suited the requirements.
