    FFP hunting scope recommendations

I'm looking for a scope that doesn't seem to exist for a multipurpose hunting /steel ringing rifle.

    I'd really like a 3-18x50ish, FFP illuminated in a 30mm tube.
If the Vortex AMG came in a 4-16 that'd be about perfect, but alas it does not.

I have to accept that there are no high end 30mm FFP scopes.
The Leupold Mark 5/6 3-18 looks like a good option, the TMR reticle looks like itd lend itself ok for hunting situations.
The Vortex Razor G2 3-18 looks OK, but concerned about the reticle being a bit thin on 3x and it weighs an absolute tonne.

The SB 3-20 and Nightforce ATACR 4-16 both fit the bill but are a little more money than want to spend.
There are some Bushnell options, but am hoping for a bit better glass quality. Same goes for Vortex PST 3-15 and Burris XTR2.

Basically want to hear what FFP scopes folk are using for hunting, in particular the FFP reticles people have found too work well on low magnification and low light.

    Cheers

I am liking my Mk6 but I would like something 30mm to save weight on mounts. Only options close to what I want are the March F 3-24x42 and the Bushnell LRHS 3-12x44 (now discontinued). I have the Bushnell and it's ok but not great.

I have never found a FFP reticle lacking for hunting in the 4 or so FFP scopes I've had (S&B, Mk6, LRHS, Vortex PST) in any light and I find myself uncomfortable using a SFP scope now.

Do you find you need to use illumination when on 3x on the MK6 on low light or not really?
I'm beginning to think the thin FFP reticle on low mag is less of an issue than some make it out to be

My Mk6 doesn't have illumination. If it's too dark to see the reticle I also can't see whatever I'm trying to shoot.

Been using the Bushnell LRHS 4.5-18x44, and optically it seems pretty good. It compares favorably to my March 2.5-25 scope, but is quite a bit bigger and heavier.
It's sitting in the cupboard, as it got displaced from the top of my hunting rifle to the 22lr, but it does not focus closer than 50M.
I liked the 8MOA circle as it quickly drew your eye to the centre of the reticle, and allowed for snap shots at lower power, where the thin reticle was harder to see.

The LRHS is something I've considered, but don't like the mag ranges. The 3-12 is left a little lacking on the high end and the 4.5-18 has too narrow of a FOV at 4.5 for my liking.
The reticle looks perfect and have heard great thing about the mechanicals, but with other options offer greater mag range I'm not quite convinced.

I really wish the Vortex Razor 3-18 didn't weigh 46.5oz otherwise I'd jump on that.

Not something I've considered due to Premier not existing anymore.
Don't see used ones coming up for sale too often.

I have a premier light tac in the cupboard, awesome scope, took it off my fatmax and fitted a s&b 5-20, never struggled with either. As gimp says, by the time it’s too dark to see the reticle, it’s usually too dark to see the animal. The illumination can be helpful when it’s low light and the animal appears dark against a lighter background.
