I was lucky with this scope price wise And ive been able to try it before I bought it cheers 7mmsaum:thumbsup:,other than my faithful bushy banner and a Burris And A flash Nightforce I havnt had other scopes to judge on.
Nice, just in time for the roar! :-)
I'm looking at buying the same scope for one of my rifles, but still contemplating one with side focus and can't make up my mind. Really keen to hear yours and others opinion on whether to get the fixed or variable focus model!
I put the side focus 50mm on my rifle. If Im honest i should have got the non side focus 40.
To big and clumsy in the bush.
Its coming off and a vx1 3-9 40 is goin on for the roar.

I have several 4.5-14 x 40 VX3s all seem to work famously.
The 30mm side focus isn't much heavier & has a ton of elevation
did you order it from the factory with the cds or did you have to send a non cds scope to them?
contemplating just buying a new scope allready fitted with cds dials
Neckshot purchased the scope from his local retailer, it is the model with CDS already installed, the average NZ price is $999
In some ways the CDS label is a bit misleading, its a carryover from the true "Custom Dial System" where you have given Leupold all your load data and they make a dial marked in metres or yards to suit your exact projectiles flight path, for a horizontal shot, at a known air density altitude.
You horizontally range your deer, then dial the yardage shown on your CDS dial, and send it to the chiller :)
The dial Neckshot has shown in his picture could be called a "MOA Dialling System" - for want of a better word.
This dial is far better, you can put the scope on any rifle when you sell the original rifle, you can change your mind often and try any projectile, any velocity, any shot angle, any distance, any air density and you can allow your very accurate ballistic calculator to give you the MOA required, dial that MOA of elevation in, and send it to the chiller :)
yea i change projectiles and loads too, having to stick to one load is waay too much commitment for me
where can I get one for that sort of money?
all the ones I see have the typical finger dials under the caps like mine
hawkes bay marine action outdoors has 3 on the shelf at that price.
