    Finished just in time..........

Well last year I decided to rebarrel my Remington, sticking with the .284 calibre. I got Scott Trail to put on a new Hardy's barrel that looks bloody good.

I then sent it off to friend to do some load development for it. We settled on a load using Hornady 139gn SST's. These are doing 3070fps and are shooting half an inch groups. I used to use the Interbonds and would have preferred them, but these SST's were more accurate and accuracy is the name of the game.

So I went and picked the rifle up only last night just in time for the weekend. Now its off to National Park to a) Try to knock over a stag with it and b) Not get shot by a loopy in the bush.

    Fingers crossed for both.

Just keep an eye on the terminal performance of those 139 sst projectiles, i have heard a few reports of light thin skinned game (fallow/sika)running off after solid chest shots from experienced marksman.

They now use the 140/150g NBT

    Just a heads up .

What is it you have wrapped the stock etc with?

Those flutes look rad, although I would probably cut my hands on them

The vinyl wrap on the stock is from Gunskin. The flutes are not as sharp as they look. H&S approved...lol

Yes, they were not my first choice of projectile, however this is the first load I'm trying so I am sure there are other projectiles that will shoot as well. Although I was trying to sell it so might just leave that to someone else to find out.

    Take no notice Kudu.
SST stands for Super Speedy Terminator, and NBT stands for Not Bloody Terminal. Everyone knows that.

    Rifle looks great.

I've had a close range surface blow up with the 139 SST on a sika yearling at only 2875fps from a 708.

    Rifle looks mint!

We are inclined to judge bullet performance by exceptions, rather than the norm. Normally, they all work.

Yes it did, but it was a very small animal. I do wonder if the outcome would have been different on a larger animal.

All the lead exploded on the surface creating a dinner plate sized skin deep wound. Part of the copper jacket penitrated and did enough damage to kill it.

A extremely nice looking rifle. Gibo you are a man for detail. 10/10 for observation.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
