That's worse than my sporter 303 with open sights.
No way it should shoot that bad with factory ammo.
your mate should have taken it back when it was new.

Take it to a decent Gunsmith & ask them to give it the once over.

It sounds like it has bigger problems than fire lapping with Final Finish will fix.
